Try chilling the spot with ice & chipping/breaking off the majority. Then put a rag over it & with an iron on low or a warm pot/pan on top of the rag it should draw the wax into your rag. This might take a few times. Good luck

I'm a master at this......(since I do it all the time)
Get several thick paper towels and your iron.......place the paper towel or old rag or towel over the wax and iron it until it comes up. It will remelt the candle wax and the paper will absorb it. Be careful not to touch the iron directly to the carpet. It will take about 5 minutes...... (Dont use ice to start with only makes it worse.)

Use an iron like you use for clothing. Once it is warmed up put a paper sack or old towel over the wax and then warm it up with iron. The iron should heat up the wax and make it stick to the paper bag. Hope this helps.

I had this issue last year. I have one of those household steam cleaners like you see in TV. (bought mine at Wally World) They clean your oven, shower, sinks, toilets, baby items etc.... I steamed the candle wax and dabbed it with a clean cloth. It took about 5 to 10 minutes of steaming and dabbing, but it came out!
I did not use the hose attachment, just direct steam pressure from the tip of the steamer where the steam would be the hottest.
I love my steamer!
