The same lobbyists who pay the ones in the non-opposition party. Lobbyists only want their position supported.

If the members of the opposition party are elected to a goverment office then they are paid by the government.. If they do not get elected then they have to work for a living just like you and me.. or live off the donations they can raise to support their political organization.. you can start your own opposition party and raise money from donors to fund it.. you can use the money to pay your campaign expenses but you can't buy a house with it.. if you want money to live on.. you have to either be wealthy or you need to work. it's that simple

Would help if you identified the country in question...

In the US for example - the two major parties, as well as the smaller parties and independents are paid for by a combination of public and private funds.

The reason the major parties tend to succeed - particularly the Republican party in the US- has a great deal of corporate support as well as support from the top 1% income group... this supports their campaigns...

We the people elect and pay our politicians to do the best work possible.

There needs to be an effective opposition party or we would end up with a dictatorship.

In my country, Brazil, all federal politicians, deputies and senators get their salary from the government, independent of the party they support.

State politicians get their salary from state government, independent of the party they support.
Mayors and members of the municipal legislative body get their
salary form the municipal city hall, independent of the party they support.

The Taxpayer pays Government and Opposition aren't we lucky. Pay good wages don't we.

Representatives are paid by which ever government branch they work under....regardless of party. So ultimately, its the taxpayers.
