it depends on what you want to do. First of all, it is too big of a decidion to make when you are in 7 or 8th grade. Sometimes it is a good idea to start college with an open mind (career-wise) because you may become inspired to try studying something that you never thought you would like.

Also, try to get a career in something that you truly love. money isn't everything. I now make $19,000 a year, but I absolutely love my job. I used to work in corporate america, making $40,000 per year, but I hated my job, hated the company and coworkers. I was on antidepressants and had a hard time going to work every day. I wouldn't trade my crappy-paying job for anything in the world because happiness is better then money any day.

If you approach college correctly, meaning you use it as a period of time when you can truly learn and expose yourself to new ideas and new ways of thinking, then it will be of great benefit to you.
