It was cancelled because UPN merged with the WB network and formed the CW network. They didn't keep all the shows. They only kept Girlfriends, Veronica Mars, Everybody Hates Chris, and America's Next Top Model from UPN. The other shows didn't make the cut. There were shows from the WB that didn't make it either.

I agree with what home girl said up above, that shows portraying African Americans in a good light don't last long, but she should have also included that it is because of the white man who is unwilling to look to a progressive future; determined to dwell on stereotypes that degrade one group of people just so they can maintain their superiority. Shows like One on One, that bring to light the black teenager's ability to be a strong, positive, intelligent and responsible influence in today's society are canceled, whereas shows like Seventh-Heaven which has been losing money for the Network is secured. I bet you that if it were a show about a group of troubled black teenagers dealing with drugs or robbing someone, that it would have been kept on the air. One on One was a show that possessed a smart, witty plot and cast and should be allowed for a sixth season and more.

I know this is going to sound really bad, but when they decided they needed to diversify the cast the show got really dumb.... Ray -j was a bad addition... they way they treated the asian girl as if she was hedious was just plain ridiculous, the stupid white guy was also ridiculous and the gold digging white girl was horrible also. I always thought that the show should have dumped Arnez and have Breanna and Spirit go to college together it would have been much better imo. There were only two of the original cast members left no one who watched the show cared about all of the suddenly new cast

cause the rating was not as high as the other shows. If the show is losing its viewers they try to keep another season to see if the ratings will change. but if it dont its CANCELLED.

Yeah, I like that show too. Reruns come on 'The N' now. Here's a link to their schedule to find when it will come on: http://www.the-n.com/ntv/schedule.php?pv_date=12%2F03%2F2006&ipv_timeZone=0
