I want to know why people from the USA want to adopt children from other countries?

instead of from America. We have so many children here that don't have anybody that really cares for them. I know children from other countries have nothing too, but why not start here first and then expand.

because the children in America are much better off than the children in other countries.
the children in other countries are in much more need.
and i'm guessing also because the american people want to get those children out of the horrible living conditions in their country and bring them to America where they'll have a better life, than the life that they're living in their home country.
i had actually thought about adopting a child from a different country.

Because it's a lot harder to adopt here. Especially babies. Adopting an older child is still iffy because the you have to foster the child for a while and the birth parents can always come along and tear that child away from you. Plus, I know that there are a lot of children in the US that need homes, but it's not like they are being put to death here like in some other countries I wont mention.
I want to adopt here, but the cost and trouble of it makes it a lot harder.

I believe that the main reason for doing something like that is that children from places such as africa and other third world countries have absolutely nothing at all....as in they wouldn't have too much more even if they did have a family over there. Orphanages here in the US usually have running water and indoor plumbing, as well as things to entertain the children. Over in africa I can't say they have as much. That is the logic in adopting a child from another country. However I must agree with you that we need to help our children before helping someone else's.

So many children ARE adopted from within the states! In fact, it's more of the rule, rather than the exception. I think some ppl adopt from other countries more as an outward expression of good will.

Because usually those children would be living in an orphanage in another country. And usually in bad living conditions. So people adopt those children because they want to give them a better life. And also because the process is easier.

I think people shoul adopt in American also, instead of going to Africa first, because there are plenty of black children who need homes in our own country. Black kids are the least adopted race in America.

We have all these parental rights issues here. If you are addicted to heroin or whatever, your children cannot live with you but you can go to rehab, get out, relasp, go back in and still get your kids back when you get out. The kids can age out of the system and still you get them back when you get out and they get shuttled back and forth between foster parents for a few monthes at a time.
