Myself (16 years ago)
I was not good at taking it consistently at the same time every day; that is the key to maintaining stable hormone levels for effective birth control.
To Kallie- I feel so sad that your parents let you know you were unplanned and to feel unwanted. That is terrible. I always jokingly say that my son did not want to wait to be born, because I do believe it was meant to be. Just remind them that you did not get to choose your parents, either.

It happens more often then you think, as you should know when you start taking the pill you should be told that its not 100% protection. I have been on three different pills and fallen pregnant every time, I lost my first baby but that had nothing to do with the pill. I have 2 healthy kids both conceived on the pill, my daughter was using condoms as well as the pill. I look at it as it was meant to be as I tried my best taking the pill everyday at the same time and fell pregnant. I have always been told that babies choose the parents and timing.
I am pregnant again but this time it was planned but still a shock. Its very normal to be in shock at first as you don't really know the changes going on in your body, she will come to terms with it more once she has had an ultrasound and seen there is really a baby growing inside or hearing the heartbeat. It will take time but I'm sure it was meant to be and she will get used to the idea. Best wishes.

Yes I Big Momma KI has three children and I've had five pregnancy's.I've gotten pregnant on the pill, on the shot, and on the patch.Theres one thing that y'all need to know is that doctors will not tell y'all that those birth control methods are not that effective and that is why they say absentee is the best way to avoid anything pregnancy and diseases. Also tell your cousin to be careful because another thing that doctors would not tell you is that while pregnant and being on birth control it is a possibility that her baby can come out with birth defects.

It varies from 98% to 99.99%, depending on the medication. Also, a lot of other factors affect effectiveness. Taking the pill at the same time every day and taking it every day will uphold this rate. However, do keep in mind that certain other medications such as antibiotics decrease the effectiveness while the medication is in your system.

Well nothing is 100% except abstinence. But if she was on any antibiotics it does make the pill weaker and that could be what happened.

unfortunately this happens more than people realize. birth control pills like any other medication affect each person differently. I hope she has discussed the situation with her doctor and the man involved. she needs help dealing with this.
