Marriage is the greatest self-sacrifice; it insists that the partnership remain "to death do we part".
The bond between partners is scared and prolonging this bond when it is no longer appropriate—for fear of surrendering ourselves to the unknown—is a grave dishonor to the evolution of our souls.
All of the vows a human being can take cannot prevent the breaking of those vows if the spirit must move on.
It is appropriate for partners to stay together only as long as they grow together and not for a moment longer. The archetypal institution of marriage does not support this.

I wouldn't call it self-sacrifice because... when you fall in love, your heart becomes theirs and their heart becomes yours and it's a mutual exchange.
But it's definitely the greatest compromise.
I mean if you like sleeping on the right side but so does he, one of you is going to have to sleep on the left side eventually. And let's say you hate public school but he loves it. Big compromise there.
There are countless examples.
But in the end, the ability to compromise are what lead to great years together...

I believe the greatest compromise is having children and having to take care of your parents. At least there is wine to sweeten the deal!!!

Yes, my parents have been married for over 30 years. However, I live in a community property state, so I'm not getting married- but that's a personal preference.
