yes the smallest star(sun) is still larger than earth except when a star is going supernova

All active stars are much larger than Earth. The smallest of them are around the size of Jupiter, though several times more massive.

When a star's fusion energy gives out, it can collapse into a white dwarf or a neutron star, depending on how much mass it has. White dwarfs are around the same diameter as Earth, or smaller, but much more massive. Neutron stars, being incredibly dense, pack even more mass into a ball 20 miles or less in diameter.

The earth is a rather small planet, even by planetary standards. Stars, even the smallest (called a brown dwarf) is many times larger than the earth. Our planet is not special in terms of size or any other properties except it has the only life we know about so far.

In March 2004 a group of scientists using a multi-fibre spectrograph on the 8.2-m VLT Kueyen telescope at the ESO Paranal Observatory in Chile discovered the star OGLE-TR-122b, which is the smallest star observed in the universe to date. This star is only 16% larger than Jupiter, however it contains approximately 96 times the mass. For reference, Earth is .091 times the diameter of the planet Jupiter. WIth the nearly infinate number of stars in our universe, I'm sure it is only a matter of time before an earth-sized star is found.

Almost all of them are the size of the sun or bigger. There are a few stars (maybe neutron, pulsar, or quasar) that are very condensed and may be close to the size of the Earth
