I urge you to stay clear away from iPods and to Creative products.

Like someone said, the Vision M is one of the best players out right now (if not, thee best). The newest one from Creative is the Vision W, so look both into these products.

If you are looking for something to play musc then I recommend the Sansa E250 2G or higher (4G, 8G). I have the one with Rhapsody bundled in it, and I love it. My H gave it to me as an early Christmas present, and I was a bit leery in the beginning, but I'm won over after using it for the past two weeks. It's easy to navigate, and the Rhapsody software is terrific if you like keeping up with new music.

It has a slot for a micro SD card, so you can expand the capabilities with another 2 meg.

It also has an 11 channel EQ built into it.

You can sync it with your music, and use the Rhapsody service (first month free, then $14.95 after) as a radio service. It will remember what songs you like/don't want to play and update new music based on your preferences.

It also holds pictures and small sized video if you need a place to store them. It has a media converter built in to do it.

Another nice thing that I liked over the Ipod was that when the battery (lithium ion) dies for good, you can purchase a replacement kit for about $20 to replace it yourself. I don't believe that's possible with an ipod.

The only bad things I can say about it are:
If you are looking for music, this is a great option. If you want video, it might not be the best. The screen for video is small 1 1/2 inches, and the quality isn't the best.

The headphones it comes with are cheap, IMHO. They didn't stay in my ears, nor did they sound the best. I bought a pair of earcandy ones for about $20 that kick butt.

It is one of the newer players on the market, and doesn't have as many "gadgets" as the ipod does, but if you go to sandisk's website, you will see there are many in the works and some out right now.

I've listed Sandisk's website if you want to go and check it out yourself. Good luck, I hope you find one you are happy with.

I bought the Samsung yp-u2j, it is 2gb, and uses flash memory, i bought this instead of anotehr mp3 player that has a hard drive, i like to run with this mp3 player, if you run or shake around an mp3 player that uses a hard drive for stoarge, usayllly any mp3 player that is over 2gb) it can screw up teh hard drive, i have another PMP (portable multi-media player) made by IAUDIO, it playes movies and music and everything, 200$, 20-30gb, here is a link to the SAMSUNG YP-U2J
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-YP-U2J-MP3-2GB-Player/dp/B000I9SIUC/sr=8-2/qid=1165204459/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-7551324-8150500?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

it is really sexy and streamlined, and superrrr light, that battery last for a long time, and it can be used as a flash drive for school or work or whatever, i couldnt find it on teh samsung website, so i looked at amazon, i bought mine at bestbuy for 109.99$, if you buy from amazon, thats 4 cents savings!

I love my 2GB ipod nano. ($149.00)
But another great thing is the Creative Zen $120.00 version does everything an iPod nano does but has more meory and plays movies.
OR, if your a cheapskate, try the RCA Lyra, or Massively Mini Medea Player.

Any iPod is the best for music. There are so many choices like the shuffle, nano, or video, and they are really easy to use, even I can do it.
