I was wondering if anyone would know (ballpark figure) how much i could sell my 40 gallon tank for. It has a wooden base, cover with a light and pump. It is old (the cover is warped) but everything else looks good. And what to do with fish that you no longer want?

I would offer it as a package sell the tank and all contents. Gennerally the going rate on used tanks with no extras is about $1 per gallon with the exception being tiny tanks and specialty tanks. (ie a 1 gallon tank will cost $5 a 5 gallon tank will cost $5 a 10 gallon is $10 and a 40 gallon is $40. Since this all changes depending on where you live and the accessories you have you will need to adjust according to the market in your area. But definately offer as a package people may want to buy the fish too. If not ask a local pet store if you could give them to the store.

used aquariums usually sell for $1.00 per gallon - standard just about everywhere, the other equipment ? advertise in your local newspaper or post ad at the petshop = buyer may want all of your equipment and your fish

I think it would be best to benchmark yourself against other tanks of similar qualities. Try going to www.ebay.com or www.aquabid.com and searching a similar tank, make sure on the left you select "Completed Listings." This will give you a solid idea of what you should be looking for as a price, and how well you can negotiate with buyers.

At most, 140$, at least, 40$.

As for the fish, try selling them, or give them to your local fish store.

I'd guess you'd be able to sell it for 100$. Fish and accessories included. Don't put your pet fish in a pond or river they would just die.

I'm not sure how much your tank would be worth but if you sell all the parts individually you will usally make more.
