Unbelievably, The Vikings have come up short on 4 Super Bowl efforts. Despite having incredible talent with hall of fame players like Alan Page (88) Carl Eller (81) Jim Marshall (70) and Paul Krause (22) on defense. Players like HOF QB Fran Tarkenton (10) RB Chuck Foreman (44) WR Sammy White (85), WR John Gilliam (42) and TE Stu Voigt (83) they ran into some incredible teams in the Super Bowl.

The Vikings probably had their best chance in Super Bowl IV against Hank Stram's Kansas City Chiefs. The Vikes went in as 13 point favorites but were dominated by the KC defense. The Vikings turned the ball over 5 times against The Chiefs and lost the game 23-7

Super Bowl VIII against The Miami Dolphins wasn't even a contest. The Dolphins ran all over The Vikings. Larry Csonka rushed for 145 yards and was named MVP. Miami dominated so decisively that QB Bob Griese only threw 7 passes the entire game in a 24-7 shellaking of The Vikes.

Super Bowl IX was the closest game The Vikings would play. The Vikings ran into the beginning of The Steeler Dynasty and it's Steel Curtain Defense which was comprised of players like DE Joe Greene (75) L.C. Greenwood (68) Dwight White (78) LB Jack Ham (59) LB Jack Lambert (58) and SS Mel Blount (47).
The Steeler Defense dominated The Vikings the entire game, allowing only 17 yards rushing and only 119 total yards. QB Fran Tarkenton was 11-26 for only 102 yards and 3 interceptions.
The Steelers were up 9-0 early in the 4th quarter when Vikings LB Matt Blair blasted through The Steelers line and blocked P Bobby Walden's punt. Terry Brown recovered in the endzone for a Vikings TD. K Fred Cox missed the PAT but The Vikes were back in the game 9-6. The Vikings defense could not hold The Steelers, however. Franco Harris set a Super Bowl record by rushing 34 times for 158 yards and was named MVP in The Steelers 16-6 victory.

Super Bowl XI was never a contest. The Raiders dominated on both sides of the ball and had a 16-0 halftime lead. At this point The Vikings defensive players were near the end of their careers and it showed. The Raiders pummeled The Vikings defense for a total of 429 total yards. Although Tarkenton brought The Vikings to within 19-7 with 47 seconds to go in the 3rd quarter it's as close as they would get. QB Ken Stabler drilled WR Fred Biletnikoff for a 48 yard bomb and RB Pete Banaszak scored his second TD to give The Raiders and insurmountable 26-7 lead.
Tarekenton tried to bring The Vikings back but was picked off by CB Willie Brown who ran the interception back 75 yards for a TD in a play you will see on NFL films for all time "Old Man Willie. He's going all the way!" K Errol Mann missed the PAT but The Raiders had a 32-7 lead. Back up QB Bob Lee was inserted into The Vikes lineup and drove The Vikings 86 yards for a cheap, meaningless TD as he hit TE Stu Voigt for a 13 yard TD with 25 seconds to go in the 4th quarter. Final score Raiders 32 Vikings 14.

No. The closest they came was Super Bowl IV against the KC Chiefs and lost then against Miami in SB VIII and lost and then against Pittsburg in SB IX and then lost to Oakland in SB XI.
All losses by sizeable margins.

Since then they haven't made it back to the big one.
