8 ^ x = square root of 512

what's the next step?

Is it

8 ^ x = 512 ^ 1/2 (?)

log8( 512^1/2)
=1/2 log8(512)
=1.5

Then you have to factor 512 into a power of 8 (hint: it's 3)

8^x = sqrt(512)
8^x = 512^(1/2)
(2^3)^x = (2^9)^(1/2)
2^(3x) = 2^(9/2)
3x = (9/2)
x = (9/6)
x = (3/2)
