As a teacher, i would say no. There is a much greater emphasis on standardized testing, and thus for teachers a greater focus on teaching to the test. The entire focus is on student's learning and not teaching. I honestly can say that there has been absolutely no increase in my professional development, assessments or anything else that I could directly point to as making me a better teacher since NCLB was passed and implemented. Personally, I think the whole thing is awful and backwards. The funding has not been there. The concept of taking away funds from schools that don't meet goals is ludicrous, and the simple fact is that within a decade, literally every school will not be able to show improvement and be labelled as failing based on unrealistic goals not met by very small subsections of students.

I could write a book on the whole NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND....ONE SIZE FITS ALL APPROACH...its like making everyone play football and everyone has to win the state championship. Its not possible. If anything its made teachers feel more pressured and competitive with test scores...its pitting teachers against teachers when they are delt the students they get.

I don't know. I do not like some of the teacher's attitudes I've come in contact with. I don't know if no child left behind has anything to do with it, but in light of your question, it's very possible.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
No. It has only made them more paranoid as they try to cover everything that will be on the test, which leaves no time to teach critical thinking, and they live in dread that their students will do poorly and they will end up blacklisted on some educational Hall of Shame. Schools that fall behind and need the most help are the ones whose funds will be cut. Tell me how this makes sense. I hope to God the Dems will deep-six NCLB when they take office!!!
