from the clothes you are drying. if you dry something everyday all the time you will eventually end up with only the threads that didn't become lint.

From your clothes. The fabric in clothing that is made from natural fibers (cotton, linen, flax, rayon) is made up of raw fiber that is spun into threads that are then woven or knitted. These fibers break down in the washing and drying cycle and show up in the trap as lint. The fineness or coarseness of the fiber contributes to the amount of lint you get. A towel that is made of a very open loose fiber so it will be absorbant, is also prone to breaking down and will produce much more lint than say a finely woven man's dress shirt.

From your clothes! If you want your clothes to last forever, just wash and line dry them - the way my Italian mother-in-law did. But they will also not be as soft as when they come out of the dryer. Besides, who wants their clothes to last THAT long?

Clothes.
Also, if you are experiencing abnormal lint
conditions, be sure to keep your filter screen
clean.
One that is clogged could start a dryer fire.
