I don't know if this will help now, but I have a DSL modem, and each time it connects to the internet, it is given a different IP address. You might want to advise your friend to power down their cable modem or DSL modem in the hope of getting a different IP address.

Your ISP and MySpace probably have logs of who did what at whatever times, but they probably don't want to be bothered by a school because your friend called a teacher a troll or accused the cafeteria of serving horse meat. Now, if your friend made threats, it's probably a different story.

I'm guessing this is more of a scare tactic to try to get "your friend" to confess. Although technically they could.. Even if they were able to get Myspace to give up the IP, they would have to convince the ISP to go through their logs and see who that IP was assigned to. If she did this from school or another public computer, they can't prove anything, unless it's logged who is on what computer at what time. All and all it would be entirely too much wasted time and money just to see who made a profile that is now deleted. More than likely they would have to get law enforcement involved, and they have better things to do.

Sorry for your friend, but the police are probably coming to arrest her now. NEVER MESS WITH MYSPACE!
