It's hotly debated.
Back in the 70s the big scare was global *cooling*!
The truth is, the Earth's climate fluxates due to a number of factors including the wobble of the planet and the relative activity of the sun. We simply don't have enough data to know for sure to what degree human activity is altering those natural fluxuations.
In the 500s they could grow grapes in the Borders of Scotland. In the 1500 the Thames in London regularly froze over hard enough to hold "frost fairs" out on the ice. It is neither as warm as 500 or as cold as 1500 today.

Global warming is a measured phenomenon. So....what do the actual measured data show? Two thing. The first is that the temperature has risen. Specifically, it has risen 1 degree on average in the last 150 years. The second thing the data shows is that this is a completely normal variation in a much longer cycle. Don't expect the temperature to go up a whole degree more in the next 150 years, lol.
Global warming is, in fact a hoax. What else do you call something where the "evidence" consists of computer models that basically make up possible results with no basis in actual measured data. Let me use an analogy. Let's say I were to measure the temperature every morning from January until July. What would you see? A steady rise in temperature. Now, what would happen if I were to plot that on a graph and extrapolate that out, say, 50 years or so? My model would predict that my neighborhood would burst into flame. Is that reasonable? Are the assumptions underlying my model informed? Of course not. My scientific methodology ignores common sense and has little to do with how things actually work. The computer models are similar. Except, in their case, they are intentionally distorted by people with an agenda.
The fact remains though. When you actually measure temperature.....1 degree difference in 150 years.....part of a long term pattern. Hardly significant. Hardly unexpected.
There are more serious problems with the global warming hoax...but that one is the most serious, the most obvious and the easiest for the average person to understand.
The others have to do with the underlying theory of how global warming supposedly happens. The bottom line with those is the changes these fruitloops say we are making fluctuate to a much greater degree naturally and aren't correlated with environmental temperatures anyway. This is a very good thing because, if they were correct about this, life on this planet would have ended a very long time ago (loooooong before man every showed up).
Global warming not just a hoax. It's an OBVIOUS hoax to anyone who understands the science.

Plants produce the oxygen we need by taking in the co2 that we (and animals) breath out. They also take in all the co2 that the industries and cars produce. They do not put out co2, or take in oxygen.
Just because the earth is warming up doesn't mean humans are the cause of it. To get out of an ice age, the earth had to heat up. To get into an ice age, the earth cooled down. This is what may be happening right now.
The atmosphere is composed of 3 main gasses. Nitrogen (I think 78%) Oxygen (I think about 21%) and co2 (about 1 %). Back before plants grew on land, the co2 and oxygen levels were reverse. The plants then made the co2 got down to 1%. Humans had to come around before the oxygen level was how it is now. And back then, when homosapeins came to Europe, It was still under a lot of ice. Another thing, why blame the co2 levels on industry? People are multiplying.
Then there is another thing. Why are we still braking record lows?
I am not saying we should just forget about the co2. I think we should still reduce the output. And still take care of the Earth. Plant a tree!

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years. Methane is 130% greater. These are two of the main pollutants humans put into the atmosphere in excess, and they are two of the primary greenhouse gases.
Look at the 'hockeystick', which shows a dramatic warming since 1950 after a fairly stable climate for 1000 years. In fact, the 10 hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990, with 2005 being the hottest.
(see links below)
How's that for proof of man's fault in this? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.
There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal. A recent study of almost 1000 proved that.
Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.
Just to be clear, glacial and interglacial cycles are mainly controlled by astronomical fluctuations, but we have a detailed record of the last 7 cycles, and what the climate and CO2 is doing now is way different and extreme. The rate of increase is much higher than in the past AND the value itself is much higher.

Global warming is not a hoax. Human-induced global warming is the new controversy in the debate about global climate change. Plant do not produce CO2. They eat and absorb CO2. Plants produce oxygen. Whoever told you that plants produce CO2 doesn't know anything about biology and certainly doesn't know anything about climatology. Anyone can make claims. If you need to know something about something, ask someone that is an expert and don't ask or listen to Aunt Mae's opinion on complicated issues like climate change or how to set the timer on a DVD player.

Global warming is a phenomenon brought about by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Examples of greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, etc. Carbon dioxide is produced by the combustion of carbon-containing fuels in car engines and coal-powered power plants, among others. Methane is produced during the decomposition of biological matter.
Greenhouse gases prevent heat which radiates off the earth's surface from leaving the earth's atmosphere, thus warming it up. It can cause the polar ice caps to melt and the sea level to rise, thus flooding low-lying coastal areas. The soil in some areas may also get too dried up to support vegetation and crops and people in these countries go hungry. It also results in unpredictable weather and cause and increase in the occurrence of natural disasters such as tsunamis. It has been documented that the temperature of the Earth has already increased by several degrees Celsius because of global warming, and this is likely to increase at a much faster rate in the next 100 years.
Global Warming is, most definitely very, very real. Perhaps because it carries such serious implications for life on earth in general, some people prefer to pretend it doesnt exist.

Global warming is a myth, sorry to tell you that. When satellites measure the Earth's temperature, they get the same temperature. Remember, most people only observe a small area, and say that the whole world is warming up. Also, studies show that the world was significantly hotter 200 years ago!
While we may have an especially hot summer, someone else might be having an especially cold winter. So you have to measure the whole Earth's temperature.
Lastly, while some polar ice caps are melting, others are steadily growing! (They never mention that, do they? =)
I hope this helps!

I believe the earth IS warming; but I do NOT believe it is because of man.
because the sun is producing more energy now than it did 40 years ago when I was a child. Back then I looked at a colar eclipse for a minute or two. Now I can not look at the sun for more than a second or two.
The Monyserat Volcano eruption dissipated more CO2 in the air than all of the cars burning fossil fuels for the past 100 years.
In brief; Yes the earth is warming; but in my opinion; is being caused by the sun.

Healthy, living plants are not net producers of CO2. However, when they die and are either burnt or allowed to decay, the majority of the CO2 absorbed by the plant will return into the atmosphere.
Even if we change our habits, all the forecasts are that there will still be some global warming, but it will not be caused by plants.

The average temperature of the Earth in recent years has gone up (and it seems the "rate" is going up as well). Nearly all scientists who study this agree. So in that case "global warming" is not a hoax.
So it sounds like this woman agrees that there IS global warming, but she doesn't agree that mankind can doing anything about it. In that sense, she must be argueing that the hoax is that humans cant do anything about the average termperature of the earth (plus or minus). That is really a debatable issue--not so much a "hoax".
