There are many options for you to think about seriously... first of all, as you said, you are 40, that would make you a mother through your grandparenting years... raising a child is a challenge by itself as a couple, and you are single... but that has been done alot and is not a big issue... the other issue about being dirt poor makes being 40 and single even harder... If you don't have any means of support from a good job, or family... or the father (whether or not you want him in your life, he has a child to consider now and should be responsible to help raise it!
There are some other things to think about... if you absolutely cannot raise this child, then you have to consider adoption and let this baby have a loving couple (who cannot for whatever reason have their own child) take the baby as their own and love it as a father and mother.should... There are many good legal adoption agencies in our country and many in search of a baby such as yours.... You would be compensated well, your medical bills would be paid for... and you would be able to choose a good set of parents to love your child as their own... You need to decide what is best for you and for your baby... if you should choose to raise this baby yourself, then find a way to get help with the bills, and the future needs of your child... i am 44 yrs old and i quit having kids at age 27 and i have a job... i always plan out the future before playing .. there's this saying if u are big enough to play.. you are big enough to accept the consequences. what the hell were u thinking about getting pregnant without a job to support the child etc etc ?? and where is the father at to help u out ??? i don't mean to be mean but sound like u will be getting help on welfare so the rest of us will pay for your mistakes ?? * shake head *

There are state funding programs to help out people in your situation. I think that may be something that you should look into. If you feel that you cannot provide for the baby like it should be cared for there is always the choice of putting it up for adoption. I think the best thing for you to do is think of what would be in the best interest of your child.

That depends completely on your particular situation, but adoption would probably be a great option. You can continue to think it through throughout the pregnancy, but you really need to think about your child and the life it will have.
