What you're referring to a freeze plug is actually a core plug. Yes, you will lose all your coolant if a core plug comes out or gets a hole in it. Most auto supply stores carry an expandable core plug to replace the metal one in your vehicle. It the plug is easy to get to, replace it or have a mechanic do it. If it's behind the bell housing or over an engine mount, you've got a big job. At any rate, if you do nothing, you'll overheat the engine and ruin it.

????? V6 All the coolant above the freeze plug would have rushed out... Even on a V8....
After installing the new freeze plug, if it took less than half a gallon to fill radiator you have air, way to much air in the system...
Drive it around the block let it cool off, fill it up again... Keep an eye on it for the next few trips AFTER it cools off and top off as needed each time... Make sure your over flow is on the cool line when cool...Also...
Check your Oil also just to make sure its OK...

if it was not running and the plug is up high you only loose coolant to that level.you may have an air lock in the cooling system, disconnect a heater hose and add coolant through it till it comes out the open heater tube or top of rad then reconnect and start.
good luck

Your radiator might be clogged. So it might be slowly leaking out the freeze plug. But yes, it will all come out eventually.
