I think I quit around September, and my game file is corrupted. I just need to know would it be worth buying another set of discs to get into my account again or will it be gone?

Blizard has stated that they will never Delete any characters off of any accounts even if the subuscribers stops their subscription.

You can stop paying for service for a whole year. After a year, you decided to come back and play. All you would just need to re-activate your account and you would be able to pick up exactly where you stopped.

You do not have to buy another set of disk. You can always choose to download it from Blizard's Website.

First of all, WoW continues to charge you unless you specifically deactivate your account. The system to do account management is web based so you don't need the game installed.

Second, you can download the client from their servers now (I forget the url). If you can't find where to do this, for a measly $2, you can buy the game disc now from Walmart. Look in the game section and you should see for sale $2 disc with a 2 week trial account. Instead of activating the free trial, just put in your old account information. If the account is active, it will start right up. If not, just go back to your account manager and reactivate it (takes 2 minutes).

Bottom line: As long as you spend the money your character stays.

If you canceled payments (which I hope you did if you have been out since September) your character should still be there. I just canceled my account last month and they said they have no plans of ever deleting the character, but reserve the right to change their minds. I know Final Fantasy XI and other MMOs will keep your characters available for up to a year. But if you haven't canceled your account they will not stop taking money and ever get rid fo the character.

While it can be, it probably isn't. Blizzard has plenty of self interest in keeping your characters around somewhere because they want you to get back into WoW. You may want to ask them to be sure (just give them your account name and realm), but I'd be very surprised if they deactivated it after a few short months.

True footnote: I played Everquest for about two weeks back in 2002 and they sent me an e-mail a few months back saying my characters were still around should I want to get back into that game.
