With the women, the sexual element does not come into play in the friendships with gay men -- and this takes an enormous amount of stress off of not only the gay guys but the girls as well -- the girls still get the benefit of "a man's view" on things, but the possibility of sex messing up the friendship is not present.

Gay guys seem to have a lot of male friends because they are associating with other gay (or bi) buys for support and solace. You really have to look at those friendship webs though: not all of the men are close friends; most are probably casual friends or even acquantances who appear to get along well together.

I guess it has to do with the fact that since they are gay the ladies feel secure that no kind of intimate relationship can develop and as such they can be more open and be them self around the gays without fear that they are going to be played or caught in any drama; this especially seems to be true of ladies who just want to be friends with a guy and nothing more.

Also, from what I was told, unlike straight guys, gays don't have to try and impress the ladies, they can be them self and actually act like big brothers to the ladies. Dishing out advice when needed, listening to their woes and generally keeping them from making any mistakes with straight guys who may be deemed players and heart breakers.

because a straight guy will at one time or another try to "hook-up" with one of his (girl-friend). A gay guy and a girl are kinda the same except for gender so there is a lot in common there.

Because gay guys are more fun. :)

Seriously, as a girl with several gay friends, I think it's because gay guys approach friendships in a more feminine way than straight guys do. Gay guys like to talk and stuff, whereas straight guys like to do...I dunno...straight guy stuff.

Most gay men know how to talk to ladies. Unlike hetero men, a gay man can converse in a lot of subjects that women find important and he won't either fall asleep on them nor will he start (mostly) being infantile. I do apologize but many hetero men of the 20-40 age that I know are really little boys at heart. You adore them but it's hard to carry on an adult conversation with them. Blessings.

Because gay guys maintain eye contact when talking to girls, and straight guys stare at the girls chest.

It is because gay guys are in touch with their feminine side which allows them to be nurturing, good listeners, open, loving, warm, giving, and emotional. Women always need these qualities in a friend whether female or male because we have a need to connect emotionally. Straight men mostly are more mental and not as in touch with their feminine side. My father whom is straight has as many female friends as a gay man because he too is in touch with his feminine side. This does not mean expressing it. It means being more comfortable with it, being comfortable with crying, being affectionate, warm, open and loving and so on. Most men shy away from being like that for fear of being labeled as a wuss or thought of as being weak which is far from the truth.

Because we don't see them as sex objects... besides we are more caring and we can talk about almost anything while straight guys only think of sex and showing off how macho they are... I have alot of girl friends who have boy friends and we can relate when they have problems with them and give advice on how to correct the problem. Hope this answers your question.

Gay guys are so much fun, sensitive and better to be around. Straight guys that have female friends tend to have only one thing in mind: SEX (unless he's not attracted to her)!
