We are a work in progress - and until we can eliminate greed, the lust for power, intolerance and hatred from our meager brains - there will continue to be wars.

Several reasons:
A lust for power and ruling the world.
A sincere desire to keep the people free.
Determination to make the entire world embrace the Islamic religion and worship only Allah.
There are as many reasons as there are world leaders.
The question is: Are the Countries that are now free willing to play the 'peace at ANY price game' and are we willing to turn over our faith, whatever it may be, our children, our property, our income? To me, this would be a false peace and we would simply become robuts and in constant fear the way the Iraqi people were under Saddam. Does anyone believe that the average Iraqi was happy under this evil reign. They lived in constant fear for their families and themselves.
Unfortunately I see no real leader rising out of the rubble. Only God can help us. Let us pray and change our ways.

No. They don't realize it. That's why we have war. There is a line in "Pearl Harbor" that I remember. Sub-mediocre movie, but an excellent line. It was spoken by (I believe) the Japanese admiral before the attacks. After another officer said that his plan was brilliant, he replied, "A brilliant man would find a way not to fight a war." Whether or not he actually said this in real life, I don't know, but truer words were never spoken. Unfortunately, war is a part of our lives. It is the duty of our world leaders to find a way to solve problems peacefully. Call it "hippie-talk" if you must, but that is what they need to do. War should always be the last resort.

That would be nice, but it's not that simple. In today's major threat, you have a group that wants you to submit to radical Islam or be dead. Doesn't that involve innocent people too? How can you have peace with that? Sure, there are other issues around the globe and there is a lot that we can do when both parties are rational and willing to talk it out. Unfortunately, that's not always the case.

It boils down to the fact that there are not enough resources for everyone to share. Even if there were, many people would prefer to take from the weak rather than to earn those resources. This fact is the prime motivation for forming tribes, villages, later cities, districts, provinces and countries. People banded together to protect the food they had gathered and saved to get them through the winter. Others tried to take that food away. War resulted. It is much the same today.

Man has free will. You must be very young and inexperienced with the ways of the world. Peace will not be sustainable for any length of time. If you are lucky, you will see temporary respites from times of war.

There will always be those who do not have trying to take from those who do have.
The only way to get peace is to win it and do so with military force.

Hey, war is necessariy to preserve existing social structures, cultures, and nation states which exist to keep order and enforce laws. No one will ever agree. Its not seeking no war at all, its to seek as little of it as possible.
