I am 85 years old and not sure if i should believe in them still or not. I usually leave cookies for santa, and last year he did not eat them. Please help me before i die without knowing the truth.

Well, the popular American form Santa Claus originated as a mispronunciation of Dutch Sinterklaas, which is a contracted form of Sint Nicolaas (Saint Nicholas). Santa Claus is a variation of a Dutch folk tale based on the historical figure Saint Nicholas, a bishop from Myra in Asia Minor (the greater part of modern-day Turkey), who used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering.

The Easter Bunny is a fictional giving rabbit which is said to leave gifts, usually Easter baskets for children at Easter (or at springtime). It originates in Western European cultures, where it is a hare rather than a rabbit.

So as much as these are not factual, it has helped many believe in the good of mankind when we reach out and help others that are less fortunate than ourselves.

I like to believe in Santa and keep the tradition of "giving" going (even if Santa sometimes misses MY house and doesn't eat my cookies that I baked for him; he was probably rushing, trying to reach all of the many houses there are this day and age).

Don't listen to those idiots who don't believe. Santa is real. He is not always hungry. Everywhere he goes he gets cookies and he cannot eat them all. Sorry I'm not up on the Easter Bunny but I know Santa is as real as you are.

Of course Santa is real. We see santa countless time each year around this time - with our own eyes. Santa is the real life embodiment of the spirit of giving - and it is that spirit that slips down our chimney each year and fills our homes and hearts with love. Of course Santa is real - but he doesn't eat as many cookies as he used to when we were small and he had our parent's help.

Peace!

Santa was once a real living person. "Saint Nicholas." He gave gifts to children in his village. Santa on a global scale is not real. The easter bunny was never real.

Sorry, but they aren't real. If you were a parent or something you would know because your parents are santa and your parents are the easter bunny so they aren't real.

As real as you want them to be.

I still believe in the tooth ferry. Maybe at 85 you know if that's a real one, cause you probably have lost a tooth or two in your lifetime!!!!
