Tell them you're Jewish. :)
LOL. Either that, or say "Alright, sing. But when it comes time for Jehovah's witnesses to knock on my door, I'll point them in the direction of your houses."

I applaud them. They are going out and spreading Christmas Cheer - I usually ask them what church or association they are with, and then make a donation with a special thank you for help bringing Christmas Cheer to everyone's door they happen upon.
Unfortunatly not everyone can get out to enjoy the holidays, and carolers are sadly becoming a thing of the past, they can and do bring cheer to a lot of folks who are house bound for whatever reason. Applaud them for the joy they try to bring to the many who cannot get out to enjoy the season.

I have never had anyone come singing at my door. My Christmas music is my annoying neighbor sharing his aweful music with us at 3 am. Would love to swap you.
Try to enjoy this time of the year, it only comes once, and they are just trying to brighten your day. Go outside and listen, possibly kick up your heels, and possibly offer them something small. Maybe a drink, or some Christmas Candy. Or just a "Thank-you" and Merry Christmas.

I've never had Christmas carolers at my door. I guess that's because I've always been the caroler. I'd say that if you don't want to listen, then politely tell them that you're busy.
Good luck!

I have never had carolers come to my home - but if they did I would listen and join in, invite them in if it cold and if I had some cookies or chocolate or something I would offer (but I wouldn't feel obligated to). If I didn't feel comfortable closing the door on them, I would join them till the next house and then go home.
Peace!

So? It's December, the month of Christmas. Smile, be jolly, thank them when they're done and be greatful Christmas comes only once a year.

You're supposed to passively enjoy the music. Close your eyes if they are annoying to look at. Clap, close the door. No you don't have to tip. No you don't have to serve them hot chocolate. You are the Audience, just listen and clap. Hooray, you have survived one of the most unpleasant Christmas traditions! LOL, seriously it's ok when you are at the mall and you can walk away but at your home? Please!

Tradition has it that you should reward them with wassail.
I think it is a hot punch, ladled from a bowl.
Or you could just serve egg nog or hot chocolate with gingerbread men or fruitcake.
Also, when they're singing, why not join in?
In fact, when they leave your house, go carolling with them!

One easy way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loudly for all to hear! I would have given them some cocoa, candy, or candy canes....a little something to know that you appreciated them stopping by. This sounds nice. We don't have carolers around here!
