Seriously, just pick the one you want to play the most and go for it. If you have never played sports before you're going to be behind the kids in most of the sports so here is what I would recommend:
Cross country - It's running, nothing to learn there.
Track & Field - Same thing, and the events outside of running are relatively easy to learn.
Bowling (not a sport, but most schools consider it a sport)
Swimming - Rules are easy, the swimming is the hard part.
I would stay away from hockey, lacrosse, and football. If you've never played sports before the rules and speed of the games will just be too much for you.
I would recommend trying it in a summer league before going out for it in high school. You have no idea how good some of the other kids are until you actually get there.
Don't mean to scare you, you just have some catching up to do.

Soccer is a great sport to try out for. The rules aren't that complicated (you can probably find rules online), and it's played outside from spring to summer, and it's very exciting. The coach should go over the rules of the game at the start of every season, as there will always be new players on the team. Good luck!

You should deffinitly go out for a sport!!! The coaches always tell you the rules because there is usually always someone new who joins the team each year!! Since it's already almost winter you have missed football. Basketball is my all-time favorite sport and I think you would enjoy it!! It's soo much fun! In the spring baseball is always big! Just remember to have fun because if you arent then you'll just hate it!

Most likely, the coach will go over rules and what not. A good sport to try out for ? well it entirely depends on you. but i'd recommend trying out for basketball or if you like running and what not, join soccer .

You could try soccer. If its already too late for you to join this year, then when you start High School, you can join the freshman team if your high school has one. They will teach you how to play and everything before your first game.
You could also consider doing a summer league or a camp before trying out.

basketball, volleyball, soccer are all good. Which ever one you like then you practice and try out. its ok if you don't know the rules they will teach you. My daughter tried out for volleyball and never played before and made the team. If you practice and believe you can do it -you will. She became very good at it and made the team the following year.

I say go for baseball or football or rugby. I play baseball and rugby...there both real fun to play but only when you know what your doing...! Get to know the game before you start playing even just a lil bit 'cause it makes a big difference I find.

Just try anything, there is only one way to learn. Luckily, you are in 8th grade, its not super competetive yet. Coaches should be willing to see someone with potential, and work with them. They wouldn't expect anyone to be a superstar when they are in 8th grade. Give it a shot!! Good luck!!

think about soccer, it is a forgiving sport and is also great for boosting your confidence. whats more you can practice moves alone if you cant find someone to kick a ball with.
in elite levels it is all about ball control so work on this when you can.
