“Of coarse they should, BUT after the BLACKS PAY BACK the US for the portions owed to the families of each union solder that died to liberate them, and for all the damages of all the "race riots" over the years, and payback all the special benefits and perks received just for being a minority, there might not be much left over.”

Don’t you dare use slavery as an excuse... white people were slaves too!!!
They act like all us white folks were newly rich Americans that kept black people down in slavery when most whites that survived the boat trips here had less then a penny to their name and had to live off the land, not dine at the local posh city restaurant like you all seem to think we do now.

Blacks didn’t even come together and fight for their freedom, whites did. Its like they have it encrypted in their DNA that ‘well back in the day whites freed us and we didn’t have to do anything for it, that must mean that now whites will pay our way and we don’t have to do anything for it too’.
Am i making sence?

It sounds like you've been doing some reading and educating yourself. You are correct that whites were slaves for centuries, and in fact, in the early middle ages, muslims captured and sold white (Christian) slaves all over Europe and Africa. They did that for centuries, up until the Europeans took over the trade - even then, the ones who captured the blacks for trade were OTHER blacks, who then sold them to white traders...
The argument of reparations is obviously ridiculous, as the most educated and enlightened in the black community know. I think that people argue reparations because it's easier to blame the great white evil than it is to take responsibility for the problems in your own household, and neighborhood and community. People when they are confused and angry and undereducated, put blame in the wrong places. . .
Some awful things were done to blacks in this country. Some awful things were done to other groups of people too - including some white groups (Irish, Italians), but those groups picked themselves up and earned respect. You are also correct that soldiers gave their lives to set slaves free. Many people risked their lives to hide slaves. And even slave owners went out of their ways to free their own slaves and see that they would be cared for. It is also true that after the war, many slaves stayed with their owners, because they were well-treated and they didn't know any other place or any other type of work...
People try hard to make very complicated issues into black and white, when the truth is in shades of gray.
Your facts are right. But watch your anger level . .. anger makes us crazy and blind to truth, and to get mad and rant about it makes you no better than those blacks who rant about deserving reparations, does it?
It's a complicated world, and things change slowly. :(

Please don't generalize. Not all African Americans think it's a good idea that reparations be paid and not all whites think it's a bad one. I'm against it partial because there is no fair way to determine who gets it. Do all blacks get it or just the ones who can prove slave ancestry? What if a white person has a black ancestor who was a slave, do they get a check? What would the total amount be and can the country afford it? Then there are the decedents of those slaves, particularly in the deep south, who had to live through decades of Jim Crow laws. What do they get?
I would rather see some money spent on a national slavery museum, along the lines of the Holocaust museum. It would honor the memory of former slaves and work towards ending modern slavery of all types.

I lived in Detroit, Mack&St Jean area went to school with blacks etc, worked with them etc, and 9 out of 10 always complained that they were held down by the white man and how they had never been given the opportunitys they needed to get ahead or out of the ghetto'so how can you say they all don't feel mistreated and abused , when so many always are wanting something for nothing, it was the same in the military, and if one didn;t give in to their whims they were called prejudice, and " this is a white mans war; man," ?? If so many blacks don't feel this way then why don't you see some of them standing up and saying so,?some say they don't feel this way when other blacks are not around but when they get with the bro's it is a different story,
when you whitey's say how nice they are and condemn people for being prejudice and sterotyping please put your shorts on right, also , who was really responsible for slavery? mostly their own people whitey sure did not capture them and sell them to the slave trade, and as
stated before whites were in slavery a lot longer and more often than the blacks ever were; .read your history.who is going to pay us reparations, it was blacks who had us in slavery? any way don't youfeel the whites did them a favor when they brought them here as slaves, at least they got food clothing , medical, all better the the average poor white, and if you went to Africa today how many would volunteer to come to America as slaves now???
just in case you don't believe this try it.

Who precisely might you pay reparations to? it quite is extremely no longer likely you may in all probability practice every person replaced right into an prompt descendant. much extra no longer likely could be proving somebody replaced into no longer. it quite is yet another of those silly questions asked by people who could spend extra time gaining know-how of and much less time sharing an ill-pronounced opinion.

Not all black do say we (whites) need to pay reparations. You're making a blanket statement that isn't true.

hmmm I wouldn't say that all African Americans say that but some do.. for those who say they don't... here's a link.. it was the only one I could find in a hurry but there have been more- and I don't think they are necessarily saying white people.. I think they are speaking of the Government- and I feel that they already have their reparations.. they live in the US today and not in Africa

Three of my four grandparents were born and raised in Europe and the fourth is descended from a convict that came to the Colonies as an indentured servant so I'm afraid I don't owe anybody.

No, you're not making sence. Because you are talking in terms of a stereotype.
Why do you think that all blacks want reparations?
If the only blacks you ever hear talking about that subject are the ones who say that reparations should be paid, does that cause you to think that they all think the same way?
Do you think Colin Powell and Condi Rice ever talk about reparations?

Guess what, c_sense_1? We agree again.

OMG.
"Don’t you dare use slavery as an excuse... white people were slaves too!!!"
Are you f-ing nuts?
I don't know where to start with this one ... but how about with the idea that it is not just we "whiteys", but the United States of America. It's not just about race vs. race, but about the official sanctioning of the *business* of importation slavery from Africa.
And what? You don't think there were black soldiers fighting in the Civil War?
And why are our schools so *crappy* at teaching even American history. You think the white unionists were all just fighting to liberate the slaves? Do you know where the term "Unionists" comes from? It was a war to protect the union from segregationist Southern states. Yes, slavery had something to do with the original sparks for the war, but in the long run it was about the South wanting economic and judicial independence from the federal government. It was NOT just a bunch of white unionists fighting to free the black slaves.
As long as you keep thinking in cartoons, you will keep sounding like a racist jerk.
And by the way, I disagree with Reparations ... but your argument is just simplistic and wrong.
