89th cousins...... that's funny. If you go down ur family history enough then you've probably dated your 89th cousin there dumbass answerer #1 btw. Anyway, good luck - but this is not a question you should put on here if you want ppl to take you seriously or even get a straight answer. ppl are smartasses!

Maybe 90th cousins would be ok though.

"Socially" acceptable depends on where. Personally, I wouldn't care if first cousins were married, but that's not legal in all states. Genetically, however, it may not be the best idea.

Pretty sure second cousins is legal in most places, and most people wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) care if second cousins were married.

Sadly, I feel the majority of the population doesn't even understand what second and third cousins are, or what once, twice, etc. removed means, and, as is always the case with ignorance, may then have prejudicial views that arise.

2nd cousins are usually the most socially acceptable. However, it is legal in some states for 1st cousins to marry. What it comes down to is this....You don't tell anyone then nobody will judge you.

Link to see marriage laws in your state.

In the book of Genesis in the Old Testament, God arranged marriages between first cousins.

In the state of Texas you can marry your 2nd cousin. I should know, my aunt and uncle ( I am adopted so they are not of blood kinship) are married. You can procreate with your 2nd cousin but not first.

Well if it has to be then they have to be cousins by marriage only, not by blood. this is as simple and to the point as I can be.
