searching for an easy fun board game that a family could play during the holidays...you know, sometimes being around family is kinda boring. need a game or something to liven things up..Thanks.

I've played 1000s of games, often with my family, often at Christmas. I am a game-a-holic.
The best multi-player game for all ages that I've played is called: "Ticket to Ride". It's an easy game to play for all ages. The pace is fast and upbeat. The strategy is complex, but easy to pick up on. Basically, players collect cards in order to build trains around a map of North America/Europe. It's exciting, and you can learn geography while you play.
On the other hand, I found Cranium to be very bad actually - despite the great recommendations it gets.
I have never finished a game of Cranium without getting in an argument, and the winner never really feels satisfied at the end. The rules are unclear, and some questions are extremely difficult, others incredibly easy...
Clue, Sorry, Risk, Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, are all also great games, but a bit tried and true. Your family could definitely have fun with any of those.

The classics are great, but I like to go and find some of the less mainstream games at a local gaming store. My favorites right now are Axis and Allies, The Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, Illuminati, and Bang!
Of course, you need to take into account the ages of your family members, and how much your family is willing to spend on a new game.
I recommend most of the games from Avalon Hill (avalonhill.com)and Steve Jackson (sjgames.com)

Cranium is a fun game but a little expensive. Another fun game that i actually just finished playing with my family is scatergories. It might be a little tough for younger kids but my 9 yr old sis loves it. It makes it more fun if u don't keep points. Also, "Moods" is a very fun game. It's great for all ages.

well, i think that a really fun family game is cranium. It's great for all ages, keeps people laughing, and takes a while to play. it costs about 50.00 though.
