The best polishing method is using the plain Kiwi found in the can. Daub it liberally on your boots and let it dry. Using a good horsehair shoe brush, put the initial sheen to the footgear and then use an old soft T-shirt to put a sharper shine to them.

If you want to try the old spitshine method followed by paratroopers use a real baby's diaper (unused, of course), wrap a moistened corner around two fingers and start at the toes in a circular fashion until you get the entire boot finished.

Finally, lightly moisten another segment of the diaper and wipe gently across the boot to put a mirror-like shine to it. If you get dirt on the boot in the process simply clean off the area, daub it heavily with polish, brush it off again, and then begin the spitshine method once more by using a different wettened corner of the diaper.

Once you get the initial spitshine formed, repeat performances are not so lengthy.
