You have -9 < 2X-1 < 5.
(Do you have to show work? Im assuming not I hope im right)
So you get -8 < 2X < 6.
Simplify and there's your answer :
-4 < X < 3.
Hope this helped!

I have the feeling you're just having trouble with this being (in effect)... TWO equations.
First, factor out the -1 on BOTH SIDES:
-8 < 2X < 6 (Note, we added 1 to all 3 parts of the equation)
Now, divide everything by 2
-4 < X < 3
Ta da.

(2x – 5)² = 7 amplify. (2x – 5)(2x – 5) = 7 Distribute. 2x(2x) + 2x(-5) - 5(2x) - 5(-5) = 7 4x^2 - 10x - 10x + 25 = 7 4x^2 - 20x + 18 = 0 Use the quadratic formula. Given: ax² + bx + c = 0 Quadratic formula: x = [-b ± ?(b² - 4ac)] / 2a Given: 4x^2 - 20x + 18 = 0 skill: a = 4, b = -20, c = 18 Plug those values into the formula. x = [-b ± ?(b² - 4ac)] / 2a x = [-(-20) ± ?((-20)² - 4(4)(18))] / 2(4) x = [20 ± ?(four hundred - 288)] / 8 x = [20 ± ?112] / 8 x = [20 ± ?(16 * 7)] / 8 x = (20 ± 4?7) / 8 x = (5 ± ?7) / 2 answer: x = (5 ± ?7) / 2

is it -9<2x-1>5, because if it is:
-9<2x-1>5
<-18x+9>5
-90x+9
-90x+9/-9=10x-1
