You can have your first mammogram at the age of 35, and after the age of 40 its once a year.

Unless you have a problem, current recommendation is annually after age 40. Some insurance policies will pay for you to have one mammogram as a baseline between 35-40.

I had my first one at 38. For me even calling it "uncomfortable" would probably be pushing it. But, I have pretty large breasts. I understand it's worse if you're small. The worst part was having to go back and sit in the little dressing room/closet while the radiologist looked at your results and decided if they needed more views. I got shut in there twice and both times I swore they forgot about me.

Baseline starting at age 35 and then after 40, every year.
Unless there's a history of breast cancer in your family, and then the doctor likes to set a baseline test as EARLY as possible!

Around the age of 35. If there is a history of breast cancer, your Doctor may want to set up screening you sooner than that. You should have one done every year after that to compare with the 1st.

I had my baseline at 35. Now I get one every year.

They recommend starting at 36. But, if you have a history of breast cancer or any breast problems in your close female relatives, you have to get your baseline (first) earlier than 36.

My insurance will not pay for one until you are 35 unless there is reason to before...like if you find a lump.
