Well hell, if they are wanting rematches, let's give USC another shot at UCLA...Michigan couldn't win it the first time, why should they get another shot? What would have happened if UM would have won? A third game...best out of three? Politics? Hmmmm...the BCS poll was deadlocked. It was the other two polls that swung the vote for Florida. I'd say politics could definitely be involved. Then again, it could just be the voters saying that Michigan didn't deserve another shot at a missed opportunity. I don't know and no body else here does...we don't work for the BCS.
Screw this BCS crap...bring on the 6 team playoff. The first two teams get first week byes and the bottom four play into the semi-finals. Division 1-AA does it. End the debate and just do it already!

I just think that a lot of people who voted are saying Michigan had their chance to beat OSU and it didn't happen.
I personally think that even if it wasn't UF in there, that some other team should have their chance as well.
People are saying "Well, what if USC would have won, then UF would still be #4"
But then I say what if Michigan beat OSU, and what if UF beat Auburn and that means they would have gone 13-0.
And what if OSU and Michigan played again, and this time OSU lost??? You would have an even bigger controversy on your hands. Then who would you crown the National Title to?

Politics behind the decision?

Nope.

Michigan had its shot at Ohio State and lost.

End of debate....

There was politics behind it somewhat...but as seen in the past, a second game in the same season between the same two squads is unfair to the winner of the first game.
