Its an argument between Louisiana citizens as to the best way to transverse the city following Katrina.-Ha Ha Ha!

On a serious note:
It was a 1972 (maybe1973) supreme court ruling that opened the way for "abortion on demand"(that is to say abortion on the grounds of individual (the mother's and not the child's=(Fetus from Latin meaning offspring or children) choice. Before this abortion on the grounds of incest or rape was legal in most states. It is commonly believed that this case which decided in favor of Roe (from Jane Roe female for Jon Doe i.e. anonymous person, Wade was an Attorney General or something from Texas)
legalized abortion in the United States but this is not true. What it did was to take the issue away from the states of which about 36 or so had bans (state prohibitions voted for by the majority of the people democratically) on abortion and gave it to the Federal government. I'm from Massachusetts which had legal abortion prior to Roe V. Wade The case also decided the funny little rule about trimesters and viability of the fetus, Biologically speaking life begins at conception and scientists don't debate this however philosophers will debate anything you pay them to.
Hope this helps. -Sean

Roe vs. Wade

Not their real names, but that doesn't matter. What this ruling did was to say that a woman has the ability to terminate a pregnancy because the product of conception is little more than a clump of cells. That is it not alive until it breathes air. Therefore, since it is not alive it is not murder and therefore not illegal to terminate a pregnancy willfully.

Because the court case took two years to progress to the Supreme court, the woman had an abortion anyway before it reached the high court.

Roe VS Wade was a court case to determine if a woman has the right to abort her child. The court decided that she DID have the right, but not before the lady had already delivered the baby in question....(I believe she put it up for adoption)
