...I see that Voyager II was launched BEFORE Voyager I. I'm assuming those rocket scientists know how to count, so what's the story behind that?

I only skimmed the material, but I don't think Grotereber's link doesn't answer the question. However, it does confirm the launch dates:

Voyager I - September 5, 1977
Voyager II - August 20, 1977

So, Voyager II really did leave first.

wikipedia says that Voyager 1 was launched on sep 5, 1977 and voyager 2 was launched on aug 20, 1977. SO voyager 2 was indeed launched before the other. Dont know why

No. The NASA probes have been noted as Voyager because of the fact they have been happening long voyages of discovery. in addition they predated celebrity Trek: Voyager via approximately 20 years. the two, although, the manufacturers of celebrity Trek did no longer call their sequence after the Voyager probes, yet merely, lower back, because of the fact the deliver replace into on a protracted voyage.

voyager 1 was launched first... dont know where u got your info on launch dates but your confusion may be that Voyager 11 is further away than Voyager 1. Simple reason is that its moving faster than V1
