If it's the third year, then you either love going there, have no where else to go or you are still trying to impress his family. Anyway, since it is the third year you should:
1) get gifts for those that will be there (should be nice, but simple)
2) call and ask what you should take to help with the food area (even if they say not to, take something)
3) a nice bottle of wine, some eggnog or festive beverage
4) take a Christmas cd or movie (can't go wrong with either one)

It couldn't hurt to ask them...unless they are the type that wouldn't tell you even if they did need something. I suggest a couple bottles of wine, one alcoholic and one not. Or grab some ginger ale and cranberry juice. There are never enough drinks at a family table!

And you're not spending it with your family because...
Should you wish to bring anything to the Christmas gathering, ask the hostess.. or bring a delicious dessert, wine, whatever.
Luv, you and he need to take turns, unless it's family's tradition to spend Christmas day there. Do you spend both the eve and the day itself with his family.. yours doesn't object..

I think you should always make a point of bringing something to their home, like a dish everyone likes. If they like wine, pick up a nice bottle. It could never hurt your "image" with them. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I'm with Robert ^^

Not really. You can bring something but not anything special as they will expect you will bring something special again next year!

Yes, a change in attitude.....try to get back to 50/50....50% of the time with your family and 50% with his family.

Otherwise, who are you trying to impress......and if he ever does you wrong.....your family will feel that you chose his...a long time ago.

well it depends how the other years went. If you want to take something, then go ahead. I think that it would be thoughtful if you do.
