Don't eat anything after 7:00 PM. If your digestive system is busy at night, it will keep you awake.

Don't eat or drinik anything with caffene in it (such as coffee, chocolate, cola, etc.) after 3:00 PM.

Tylenol PM may help, but don't take it every night. Better to drink something warm like herbal tea without sugar (NOT regular tea, as it contains caffene). And yes, warm milk really does help, but if you're lactose intolerant, skip it.

Pleasant dreams!

A couple of ideas:
1. Take melantonin pills- natural, found in any health food store.

2. Relaxation of the body - lay in bed, ready to go to sleep. Start with the head and make sure it is very relaxed. You will know it is when you feel it falling heavily into the pillow. Next move to the neck, shoulders and arms. Go to the next body part down to your feet. By the time you reach your feet, you should be relaxed enough for a good sleep if you are not asleep already.

3. If you have a favorite movie and CD that calms the mind, play it. I do that with a movie, and I am asleep within 5 minutes.

4. Make sure the house is cool enough. Our's is at 66F and I was told by the sleep dr that it wasn't cold enough but if we were comfortable, leave it alone.

I hope these help.

keep the same sleep schedule all the time, even on weekends.

make a routine before going to bed to get yourself ready for sleep.

don't just lay in bed if you can't sleep. get up and do something really boring, until you feel yourself getting sleepy and then climb back in bed and fall asleep.

make your bedroom just that, a bedroom. Don't have a lot of things going on in your bedroom. Use you bedroom for sleep. Not an entertainment room. No TV. No computer. You do that elsewhere in the house.

keep the noise level down (I wear earplugs).

keep the lights very low. Your body releases some kind of chemical when it's night time to help us sleep. If you keep the lights bright, your body cannot naturally get ready for sleep.

go see a doctor and explain your sleep problem. After many doctors, I was finally prescribed an old fashion antidepressant, that helps me fall asleep, and helps me stay asleep. My problem was waking up too early every night (3:00 a.m.) and having difficulty falling back asleep.

be careful with taking the newer sleep drugs. you may become addicted to them, and if you want to get off them, you may have severe withdrawals.

there is a lot of research out there on insomnia. Do an internet search and go on some forums. All are very helpful.

You can try a mattress that gives out far infra red rays and negative ions. It helps you to rest better and get better quality sleep.

Do you often find it difficult to sleep until after 2am? Even if you slept early, would you wake at 2,3am and find it difficult to fall back into sleep again? If you do, your problem may be with your liver.

If so, I would suggest that you undergo a detox. I specialize in helping people solve their health problems using detox programmes. If you are interested, you can email me at verityy@yahoo.com

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
