I am with you about the water issue. I would just boil the water surrounding the Island. Honestly, the question did not hint to what kind of island this was, so I say my island has a fresh water source, fruit trees, and hunting resources.
So my two items would be a "solar rechargable satellite camera phone" (is there a such thing, if not I coined it, lol) and my bible because even if someone did rescue me I still have a lot of catching up to do.

A large fully functioning boat drivable by one person with full gas tanks, a large store of food and water, maps, instruction manual, and a functioning ship to shore radio. I maintain that this is one thing because this would be the normal state of a boat like this, completely functioning and supplied. Do I really need to explain why I want this item? LOL
Secondly my dogs or one of my dogs, depending if you will call a pack a single thing or it has to be a single dog. And for company of course. A couple of my dogs really talk to you. it is mostly about food and getting fed but it would beat no conversation
by the way fun question!!!

The other day I was looking at a picture of outer space. It included a section of space where the Earth is located. I felt sad, and I felt that our planet is in a rinky-dink solar system millions of light years from anyhwere.
Suddenly I knew I was stranded. What was your question again? Are you sympathetic, or is this just another trick question?

A notebook and a digital camera with ALOT of memory. I would love to be able to do this sometime. Spend a long time alone and just record my thoughts and feelings, and to have the camera to visually capture my experiences.
All you people saying water, be serious! How could you possibly take enough water with you??

Plenty of toilet paper because I don't want to use banana leaves, and plenty food because I don't like the whole idea of hunting.

Two things I would bring are water because without fresh water you could die, and I would take food that does not have to be refrigerated or frozen because you have to eat something to survive!
