i have had a C-section and it is not that bad you will be in pain after the surgery dont get me wrong but it will soon fade and you will always have a story to tell your son/daughter when they get older, dont be scared it is less painful then having a baby natural in my opinion
GOOD LUCK

You may really want to think about the fact of the pain after the c-section because the second, third, and so on it worst with each time. Every time they do a c-section they are having to cut through all that scar tissue and it hurts like ain't no bodies business. I had one with my first baby and I plan on trying for a vbac with this pregnancy but the closer I get the more I am undecided. If my body doesn't just go into labor then I will be in for a scheduled c-section. Weight out all of your options before deciding on one or the other just because your doc would rather have it that way. Good Luck and keep us posted on your choice.

I'm sure your midwife has considered all of the potential problems and would not intentionally put you in harms way. Also where I am from our midwives actually perform c-sections at hospitals and I'm not so sure the would try to do that one at home or even if they could legally?????
I have had three c-sections and yes the epidural hurts, but it is over quickly and doesn't last near as long as the pain of labor does! You will be fine!!

If a qualified medical professional feels you should have a c-section, I would ask for a 2nd opinion. No rational medical person is going to deny you a 2nd opinion and their feelings should not be hurt by the request. If it's not a medical emergency that you need it today, then that's what I would do.

I've heard of dozens of good epidural stories and only one bad story. I personally couldn't consider it because it geeked me out, but then I'm a big baby! (I had 2 c-sections.)

I had a c-section and I really don't think that it's that bad! The epidural on the other hand was hard for me. But everyone is different and in the end you'll have a beautful new life and all that you went through won't matter anymore! Good Luck!

Could you explain more? I am a midwife, and I can't really think of anything off hand that could have happened in a previous labor that would make me recommend a cesarean. A C/S is major surgery, not to be taken lightly. And, unlike other surgeries, this one affects two people. You can read more on cesarean risk here if you like, and be sure and check out the ICAN web site:

Feel free to email me if you would like.

DO NOT HAVE A C-SECTION....FROM A MID-WIFE.

ONLY HAVE A C-SECTION IN A CERTIFIED HOSPITAL.

YOU COULD BLEED TO DEATH....AS YOU ARE CUT FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER!

It's not a big deal with a hospital staff that can help you and your baby if any complications arise, but it is a big deal if you are not in a hospital.

They will give you proper education on any medication!

If you had problems for the first pregnancy, get to a doctor that is with a certified hospital...and try to not listen to anyone other than a doctor who wants to deliver in a hospital.

If you lose your child because of your decision, you will regret it and cry for the rest of your life...and your life is more precious than that!

Because of your history, I would suggest having your baby in a hospital. That way you can go vaginal, and if you have problems, you can have a c-sect. I wouldn't go into expecting to have a sect. Epidurals are a little painful, but I don't think they are that bad. We are at 14 weeks and already plan on getting one.

36 hours of labor changed my mind about the epidural. It does hurt, but just for a moment, then ahhh....... much better. I planned my next two c-sections after that!
