When having this problem, it has been one of 2 things. Usually adjusting the unit so all the water in the base drains to the back does the trick.. Do this first. The other problem, more rare, is icing of the cooling coils near the face of the unit. If the second is the case & it happens most of the time, it is usually more cost effective to replace it than to repair.
A word to the wise from sad experience. I once tried drilling drain holes to let the watter out and cut the tubing. Bye, bye A/C unit, Hello sweat.

you could need to study in spite of if the unit is put in wisely on your window? in spite of if that's at a tilt, there is an hazard that the water accumulated during the aircon technique is flowing ideal to the exterior and rather ending up on your room. How long have you ever had your familiar Air Conditioner?

Is it cool outside when you operate the unit? You may be having the evaporator coils frosting up and when you shut it off the frost melts and comes out the front.
If it is cool outside you can save on your electric bill and just open a window or door as the a/c unit cannot operate properly under those conditions.

the water will leak out of the unit, it should just be leaking out the back to the outside. Something might be switched around where it is leaking out the opposite way. is it new? do you have a reciept? I would try returning it if you can't get it fixed yourself.
Good Luck.

It's condensation. Tip it back so that it leaks out the back. Water from air conditioners can be very dangerous. It can give you legionaries disease.
