i have tried windows media player but it has errors with the media type.

May depend on the type of mp3 player you have. Normally you can use Windows media player to sync your device. If you have an iPod you are going to have to use iTunes (convert songs to iPod format) or winamp.
If you can use Windows media player just plug in your device and create a sync list. You can drag and drop the songs y ou want. Then press sync.
What brand of mp3 player do you have? What format are your downloaded songs in?
