I work in a high school, and also went to college in Pennsylvania. Top schools in my opinion: UPenn - Ivy League, great school.

For small liberal arts schools - Swarthmore (usually in the top three liberal arts colleges in US News and World Report rankings along with Amherst and Williams), Haverford (usually in the top ten), and Bryn Mawr (all-women's school, also in that top echelon of small liberal arts schools. A hair behind those would be Franklin and Marshall.
Lafeyette, Lehigh, and Bucknell are all very good schools but a slight hair below those five.
Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is the best school in PA for arts as well as for technical learning. Great computer science programs.

A few other good schools in the good but not as exclusive group: Muhlenberg, Pitt, Duquesne, Penn State, Villanova, Temple, Drexel.

Requirements vary from school to school. As always, high grades, good extracurriculars, good recs, good SATs and SAT IIs, and a good interview help. Swarthmore, Haverford, U Penn and Bryn Mawr are the hardest to get into, with Carnegie-Mellon and Franklin and Marshall also being very hard to get into. Check each school's website or look up the school in a colleges guide like Barron's.

Good luck!

Don't listen to the person who said not Penn State -- obviously, he doesnt know what he's talking about. Penn State offers almost any program you can think of, and is an excellent campus. If you don't like large campuses, check out there Behrend campus (if you don't mind cold weather) in Erie.

Penn State has top ranked programs in countless areas....don't rule it out as a possible place to look for programs.

If PSU isn't for you check out Pitt, Drexel, and IUP, all which are good schools as well. Good luck.

Most schools have an acedemics and admisions link on their home page that can tell you about admission requirements. You might first check into things like the acedemic program you are interested in persuing such as business, physics, enlglish, etc, etc. to help you find which school has programs in areas you might be interested in persuing.
