use rate x time = distance
4x=196
x=49 mp/h

49x=1078
x=22

it will take 22 hours to drive 1078 miles

Set up this proportion:

196/4 = 1078/x
196x=(1078*4)=4312
x=22

22 Hours.

1. divide 196/4 so you have the speed (miles/hr) which is 49
2. then divide 1078 by speed (49 miles/hr) which is 22 hours
