WHY is Desperate Housewives a rerun?

It's the end of sweeps. There are about 16 main sweeps weeks and most seasons are 22 episodes. That gives the shows about 10 weeks of new episodes then reruns start in December and January and new episodes in Feburary, reruns back in early March and new episodes at the end of March through and then reruns till mid September.
