Yes, but I think that was the point, as it is with the rest of the 11 or 12 books in this series. The point is, life is tough, deal with it.

I read the book like the day that I saw it right before we left and the book is the same way. It's weird things that happen to people.

I actually just watched it recently, I thought it was terrible. There was all of this suspense on what the spyglasses were, and who was burning down houses, and the mysterious group, then the end, it was Count Olaf. No explanation, no development of the characters. Thumbs down.
