CA- Because my boyfriend and I both need help with our substanjce abuse problem, I agreed to let our 1 1/2 year old daughter stay with my mother, in order to avoid cps filinjg a [etition to remove her from our care. Now my mother is refusing to let us visit or have any contact. If we take her right now cps will take us to court. What can I do to fix this heartbreaking situatiuon? Our social worker isn't helping and we can't afford an attorney.

What did you do to have CPS involved in your life to begin with? My son is 7 and I have yet to have a run in with CPS. I think that there is a lot more to this story than you are letting on to.

I hate to answer a question with a question, but, what do you love more, getting high, or your daughter? You're no good to her if your using, get into a program, get clean, the courts will look upon you better if you show you're clean and a working member of society that has the best needs of her child put above all else.
I had to make the same choice in '96, I chose my son, a choice I've never regretted.

Get clean, and rebuild relationship with your mom. She is looking out for the best interest of the child.
