Ok, so I have a college diploma in Accounting & Management Technology (3 year program) and I'm thinking of continuing my education but I want something short. The program I'm interested in is Certificate in Business Administration (university). Now, my questions are:

1. What is the difference between this program and the one I already completed?

2. Would I get a better paying job with a certificate?

3. Could I apply for jobs (which want a university degree) with my certificate?

I do not think you would get a better paying job with a certificate and NO, you could not compete with applicants who have a degree.

Your Diploma was a 3 year program. Find out if you can transfer your credits to a University in order to complete a 1st degree.

If you want short programs you may try the 1 year distance program in Management at Leicester University (UK). You can then move straight to doing your Masters of Business Administration (MBA, 2yrs). You will then become a candidate for great salary opportunities. In the meantime get some work experience. Also, speak to a career counsellor who will advise you based on your interests and what you have already achieved. All the best!

The job market is highly competitive right now, so the more credentialing you can get, the better. I would recommend seeing if a 4-year program would transfer in some of the credits from your 3 year program (if it is not considered a bachelor's degree - I wasn't clear on that), and then you could finish out and get a BS in Accounting.

OR, if your degree is, in fact, a bachelor's degree, a certificate in Business wouldn't hurt, however, you would benefit more from a bachelor's degree when employers are looking at your credentials.

Also, your experience is worth its weight in gold, so I would try and get the extra credentialing while still working if you can do it. Good luck.
