It means that you are using up the memory that is set to run background icon loading in your system tray, or the applications that you are running are overloading your computer. You can change the setting for the virtual memory for your computer easily.
Right click on My Computer.
Click properties
Click on the tab called Advanced
On the tab under advanced, there a settings button for performance. Click on the settings button.
When that comes up, click on the tab called advanced.
then click on change, it will bring up the page where you intial size is and your maximum size is.
You can change to any size you want for both.
I hope that helps. Here is a website that might be of more assistance.

IN your computer, the memory that programs use and delete while they are running is called RAM. There is a RAM chip in your computer. XP uses a small part of your hard drive (permenant memory) like RAM. This is called a pagefile or "Virtual Memory". Whewindows needs more it will tell you. You do not need to do anything because windows will make it bigger as it needs to. Disregard the message, however if it persists for several days try to reduce the number of programs you run at one time.

Virtual Memory is Hard drive space that is being used as RAM. IT happens because you are using applications that are using a lot of ram and it has run out of RAM, and it's taking a lot of space on the hard drive and it's running out.

Not to worry. The system extends your paging file and creates more virtual memory for you, if it can.
If you see this message often, you might benefit from adding physical memory to your machine.

It means you're running too many programs at once and it's sending your pc into a tizzy. This will often happen when you run a bunch of messenger programs or games at once.
