‘Useless’ is too gentle a word to described the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people and the harm that it has done to America and the security of future Americans. The invasion of Iraq destroyed a country, ruined the lives of millions of people, created an unknown number of religiously-motivated anti-American terrorists, ruined America’s reputation in the world community, cost America most of the friends it did have, divided the American people, and ensured that international terrorism will continue to increase and become more deadly in the future.
This is especially true for America, whose citizens are more vulnerable and less secure than ever. The only way to stop future attacks against Americans is have reliable intelligence information, much of which is in the hands of other countries and governments. If we do not have good working relationships with the other countries of the world, we will not be able to count on their always providing us with the best and more current information.
Immediately after 9/11, Syria and Iran provided us with information pinning the attacks on Bin-Laden and tracking him to Afghanistan. Syria even allowed the CIA to operate one of its ‘black prisons’ there. It is hard to imagine getting any cooperation from those countries, or dozens of others, for the foreseeable future.
In the years since 9/11, it is the American people (loss of freedom and constitutional rights) and the Iraqi people who have paid the price. Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups have prospered in the successes, financially, and in popularity and recruitment. We would be a lot better off of the Iraq war was just useless.

i'm sorry, yet as I recollect it. We have been at conflict with Afghanistan, then all of sudden we moved directly to Iraq. conflict is often fought under fake pretences. Who might combat so the politicians can get richer? no one in all their ideal techniques. you spot a number of those adult males making those judgements on our behalf, yet none of them keen to bypass and combat. i think of George Bush desires to be the final president. looks like he's attempting to make everyword in "Revelations" come real ideal now throughout the time of his term. i replaced into in no way for this conflict and that i in no way would be. How does every person justify killing in the call of peace. there is not any such element.

you fail to see the truth in this war,I'll bet your around the 25 year age,if you fail to see what keeping the peace in this region is about than youll never grasp the concept to annihilate Israel, and the western infidel dogs that ally with them,if we lose the war, then we lose to terrorism and which country will attack us next, its not about the oil either,I would gladly pay more for gas if we embargoed every country that opposes us,and pay for higher oil from here(we do have a pretty big untapped reserve here in the US but I guess all the greenies would rather exploit other countries than ours,i guess its ok for them to trash the other countries Thats more evil than war(at least by there own standards

Well...maybe you WERE a little "silly"--but your question is valid. Have you seen the latest on Rumsfeld? (I mean for real, credible & all that.) He doesn't think it's "working" either. Now that he isn't part of the gang, perhaps he can say what he honestly feels. There's far, far more to the reasons for the U.S. declaring war on Iraq than those you mention. If nothing else, think about the psychology of it. I needn't say more about that. How about a good John Wayne movie??? Good grief. Even Iraq wants us out, but they haven't got a say in it, after all, it's just THEIR country. & if it was hell before, it's worse than ever & won't get better. But then, machos don't know what a "graceful exit" even MEANS--so let's just lose more of our own & let Iraqis wipe out Iraqis. Hey. Is Big Brother picking up on me???
Edit: Truthseek's link was a joke, right? If not, SOMEONE needs heavy medication...

you confuse this place with your personal blog, or perhaps Democratic Underground or DailyKOS.
IF you want to be anti-war, then that's fine. I just wish that the anti-war crowd would have their fact straight, and be prepared to have a logical and nuanced discussion on what has happened since 1991.
Whatever happened to anti-war people having "teach-ins" where they actually taught the facts of the situation? Weren't the last crop of anti-war protesters college students, and therefore smart? What happened???

lets get on thing straight here..
First its not a war, for it to be a war the other side must actually be able to win...
Second its more like a police action, just like Veitnam
Third this country spends way to much time money and american life on thes pis'ant third world countries
Fourth we should have nuked it and started fresh

The war in Iraq is a big lie. It's not about a war on terror. It's secretly about THIS!...
