It can, and often does, stand alone. Think of the life of Mother Theresa. She worked and loved the lepers who, at times, were too ill to give anything in return. Remember, "love is a verb not a noun." - Oprah

I agree with you. But in order to love someone you need to feel the love back you know. in some cases love can stand alone b/c they may love someone with all there heart and the other person could care less like a father to a son or something like that you know?!

It doesn't necessarily have to be a two-way thing. It stands alone when you love yourself, when you love your job, your life, etc. Love that stands alone can sometimes be stronger than two-way. Roughly 2,000 years ago, love stood alone and DIED alone to enable us sinners to be reconciled to God... His birthday celebration is like 3 weeks from tomorrow, the 4th... His name is Jesus... If you haven't received His gift yet...? Think about it... Perhaps, there's STILL time...?

Only the love between a parent and child. Even when the child becomes an adult....

They take and take and take. And we love them anyway.
