Are there good USB hard drive interfaces?

Question

Is there a USB device that will allow me to attach external hard drives to my system without messing with the master/slave and all that? If so, what would you recomend?

I want to get old pictures from my old drives in my old systems with minimal effort, but also have the means to transport large amounts of data physically.

yea simple, just get an external harddrive enclosure, probably $20+, i get the ones with fans and HOTSWAP,
u probably want a 3.5" enclosure if you got these drvies from desktops. laptops use 2.5", you shouldnt have to mess with master/slave
