I plan to keep him in a 30 gallon aquarium on aspen with a heater on one end. He'll have toys, etc. as reccomended from my reading. I am looking for first hand experience from other hedgie owners.

Just to clarify, I wasn't asking if it were OK to keep a hedgehog, I was asking if experienced keepers had tips. Please take your rhetoric elsewhere.

hedgehogs always want something to hide behind or under, so make sure he/she has a little house to go into. Also, my neighbors hedgie kept getting loose and they'd always find him in the back of someone's closet in the shoes. Give him some real bugs and fruits and veggies and chicken from time to time. Also, they hurt when they puff up and hiss at you because of their spines. Protect your hands a bit with your sleeves or a cloth.

Dont' get a hedgehog. They are wild animals and belong in the wild.
